Kingston School of Art MA Photography exhibition launch

On Thursday the 1st of february, Kingston University held their exhibition launch for the MA’s end of year photography show, Atlas.

The students of KSA hosted the first night of their exhibition at Espacio Gallery, Shoreditch, which was surrounded by numerous pieces of work, and accompanied by drinks. 

The course produces an exhibition every year for each MA cohort as a final project, this year upgrading to a private gallery for the showcase from last year’s exhibit in its own university campus.

Speaking with the course leader, Sean Wyatt, describes “ATLAS" as a celebration of the international nature of the course and “showcases a diverse range of work with an emphasis on contemporary urgencies and socially engaged practices.

“From evocative portraiture to AI and camera-less imagery, the work on display explores the boundless possibilities within the realm of expanded photographic practices.” 

With this end of degree show being their first as graduates, it platforms their work as photographers and artists in Shoreditch, known for its artsy atmosphere as a creative hub with many high profiles working in the surrounding areas, giving way to opportunities as up and coming artists. 

The Multi-media Art show exhibited multiple types of textiles from c-type prints to video installation, stretched canvas print, polaroid prints, frames and cyanotype cotton print.

The course is set to undergo changes from the next year however to be more flexible, accommodating part-time course tuition as well, adding an additional year to the year long course giving their students the ability to work alongside their studies, enriching their experience and knowledge. 

The artists presented consisted of students Amaan Ali, Binrong Chen, Giancarlo D'amico, Zhe Gong, Hui Yui Ku, Yanran Li, Haixiang Li, Xin Li, Lingzhi Liang, Zhiwei Liu, Billy Parker, Esha Parulekar, Raj Sabareesh Ramalingham, Yindong Sheng, Xinyan Shi, Shoushang Wang, Yuning Xu, Ziyuan Yang, Qinyan Zhao, Yunfeng Zhou.
