The annual Varsity sports competition against City University is taking place March 26 and March 27

In March 26 and 27, sports teams at Kingston University and City University are to come together for the annual Varsity competitions.

18 sports teams at both Kingston and City University are coming together for the yearly Varsity sports tournaments, with indoor sports, such as fencing and volleyball, taking place at City on the 26 March, and the outdoor sports, like rugby and football, happening at Tolworth Sports grounds.

Both universities compete to win in their individual sports to gain points that contribute to the overall winner of the tournament. Tickets are free for all students and there will be a range of activities and entertainment on the days for students to enjoy - including food stalls, music and inflatables. Last year, City won the Varsity trophy for the seventh consecutive year.

Fencing team president, Ross Summers said: "we believe that this years teams for each weapon is well rounded. Each individual fencer on the team brings a different strength that compliments their team members.

Last year we proudly won the foil discipline, while we unfortunately lost epée and sabre. We have high hopes this year after witnessing each fencers personal growth in their skills."

Badminton, volleyball, fencing, Kho Kho and table tennis will be taking place on the first half of day one, followed by netball and basketball in the evening, at City University. Day two, held at Tolworth Sports grounds, will consist of rugby, American football and football.
